CHOIR & ENSEMBLE DIRECTION
Does your vocal group need some guidance on blend? Is your choir in need of a fresh pair of ears to help set direction for the next few years? Is your musical theatre troupe’s chorus work ragged or raucous? Let Simon help diagnose the issues and offer some guidance on how to progress.
Simon has worked as tutor and conductor for many choirs and ensembles, from small close harmony groups, to musical direction, to choral direction of up to 200 singers. He is a charismatic and supportive group leader, rigorous but engaging, focused on skills-building as much as repertoire expansion.
"Simon has tutored students of all ages, from beginner to professional, classical to contemporary and music theatre, and adapts his approach seamlessly. His energy, focus and depth of musical knowledge make him utterly engaging in choral rehearsals and arresting in performance. His wealth of experience in vocal pedagogy, vocal anatomy and physiology and vocal health are a tremendous asset and he both teaches and diagnoses vocal issues and development with wisdom and ease. Simon has a very fine ear and directs ensembles of varying size and ability, alert to their vocal, musicianship, blend and balance needs." - Jane Hennessy,
