Born in Scotland, and with a background in singing, acting, translation and voice work, Simon holds a Masters in Fine Arts in Voice with Distinction from NIDA in Sydney, Australia; a Post Graduate Diploma in Music Theatre from the Royal Academy of Music in London, UK; a Diploma in Translation from the Chartered Institute of Linguists; and a first-class Master of Arts in Modern Languages (French and Spanish) from Cambridge University. He is a member of the Voice and Speech Trainers Association, the British Voice Association, and the Australian Voice Association. He has extensive experience as a teacher and performer of every aspect of voice use, from individual and choral singing through to foreign language, stage speech, and text and dialect coaching.

But that only tells half the story. Just as importantly, he is known for his calm energy, good humour, and exceptional rigour, whether teaching individuals or groups, beginners, drama students, or professionals.
